For the past two years, Russian businesses have been key contributors to the Kremlin's military efforts draining Russia's life blood away from other key sectors. This has cemented the importance of the West's continued sanctions as a critical policy against Russia. However, the implementation of these sanctions has not been entirely successful. The lack of a strategy for a ‘roll back’, or even provisions for such a possibility, has cornered Russian financiers and, by extension, the regime into a deadlock. The current situation in the world, resulting from Russia's expansionist actions, significantly differs from the situation in the late 1930s and the late 1980s. By now, a dictatorial regime has been established in Russia. It is necessary to realize that the international community has never dealt with an aggressor of such magnitude, armed with nuclear weapons, and possessing one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world. It seems that the leaders of the free world have forgotten the mistakes of the past and are close to repeating them.
