THE CONGRESS OF PEOPLE'S DEPUTIES

Ukrainian citizens have a positive attitude towards the armed formations of the Russian anti-Putin opposition and approve of their support

According to  sociological survey conducted by the Research Center "Image-Control" from March 23 to 25, 2024 in Kiev, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Odessa, about 60% of respondents believe that the armed Russian anti-Putin opposition (currently the RDK, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Siberian Battalion) can remove the Putin regime from power and form a Russian government friendly to Ukraine, if they receive substantial assistance and their ranks increase significantly

Thus, about 63% of respondents gave a positive answer to the question "Should we work now to ensure that after Ukraine's victory in this war, the authorities that will provide security and compensation for the consequences of the war to Ukraine are established in Russia?" and only 24% of respondents are categorically opposed to any relations with the Russian Government, including in the event of a change of the Russian Government to one friendly to Ukraine?

To the question "In your opinion, should the Ukrainian authorities support the actions of the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Russian Freedom Legion and the Siberian Battalion?" 53% of respondents expressed the belief that the Ukrainian authorities should support the activities of the RDK, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Siberian Battalion, as this would be for the benefit of Ukraine. As such support, 42% see primarily diplomatic efforts by Ukrainian politicians to persuade the West to recognize Russian oppositionists who oppose Putin as legitimate representatives of the Russian Federation; 14% note support at the institutional and financial levels.

At the same time, 61.2% of respondents responded positively to the question "Do you think that those Russians who are currently fighting in the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Russian Freedom Legion and the Siberian Battalion will be able to form a new political elite in Russia after the Putin regime is removed from power?" versus 38.8% who expressed doubts about this possibility. However, 3/4 of those who agreed with this thesis believe that this can become possible only if these units are significantly strengthened and their number grows noticeably.

At the same time, much more skepticism was expressed towards the Belarusian opposition. 36.7% of respondents don't know who Tikhonovskaya is at all, while 27% are convinced that it's not worth supporting her.

Ukrainian citizens are even more skeptical about Russian oligarchs. Only 37.7% supported the idea of lifting sanctions on those Russian oligarchs who are ready to show "active repentance" - to provide material aid to the AFU and Ukraine and to publicly oppose the ruling regime in the Kremlin and its aggressive actions. More than 50% are against the lifting of sanctions in any case. However, the public attitude towards Ukrainian oligarchs is not much better.
