Resolution of the Congress of People’s Deputies on relations between the Russian Republic and the peoples of the Caucasus

On 26 November 2023, at the plenary session of the fourth session of the Congress of People's Deputies, the Congress considered and adopted a resolution "On the relations of the Russian Republic with the peoples of the Caucasus"

 

The Congress of People's Deputies considers it necessary to formulate the position of a future free Russia with regard to the peoples of the Caucasus.

The Congress of People's Deputies recognises the right of the peoples of the Caucasus to self-determination and free development.

The Congress of People's Deputies forms an advisory group to work out decisions on the parameters of the transition period and invites representatives of the peoples of the Caucasus to work together.

The Congress of People's Deputies declares that the new Russia is breaking with the imperial practices of the past and is ready to build relations with the peoples and states of the Caucasus on an equal and fair basis. The principles laid down in the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria of 12 May 1997 can be used as the basic principles of these relations. They will guide the activities of the government of the free Russian Republic.
